GUEST SPEAKER

Georgia Arnold the returning Exchange Student shared with us some highlights from her "extraordinary year" in Switzerland. Georgia departed Australia on the 24th January 2009 and arrived to -2 degree temperatures. Where she was hosted it was just 30 minutes drive to France and to Germany. The language spoken was German.

The Rotary trips, school trip and other trips saw Georgia travel via Peugeot car to France, Europe tour, Germany tour, Venice and visit Stine in Denmark.

Schooling is to the age of 16 and then students are streamed into 3 different areas. The school Georgia attended had classes 6 days per week but you only attended when your class was scheduled (like our Universities).

The Host Rotary club met for a lunchtime meeting and consisted of a three course meal.

Christmas customs were discussed starting with December 6th activites and Christmas eve were after dinner, candles are lit, carols sung together, presents exchanged and then attendance at church.

" Thank you very much, I'm grateful and definitely won't forget the opportunity the club gave me."

 PRESIDENT

President John accepted the Rotary Club Banners that Georgia presented and thanked her for being a very good ambassador for the club and for her interesting presentation.
